History of KME Ibertubos

KME Ibertubos, S.A. started its activities in 1967 as Ribera y Schmoele S.A., a ”joint-venture” between Metales y Platerías Ribera (Barcelona, Spain) and Schmoele AG (Menden, Germany). Located in Barcelona, Spain, since its inception the company’s main activity has been the production of capillary tubes for diverse applications in the refrigeration and air conditioning industries.

In 1991 Kabelmetal AG (Osnabrück, Germany) took control of the company and changed its name to KM Ibertubos S.A. It was not until 1995 that the company adopted its present name of KME Ibertubos, S.A. Nowadays, KME Ibertubos S.A. is fully integrated in the industrial group KM Europa Metal AG through its holding subsidiary in Spain, SIA Santa Bárbara S.A.

At the beginning of 2001 KME Ibertubos S.A. inaugurated in Barcelona a highly technologically advanced manufacturing plant, offering ”state of the art” premises as well as increased production capacity for capillary tube and enjoying better logistics.

KME Ibertubos S.A. is working hard to modernize its processes, including investments to improve quality and productivity, strengthening a workforce with a high level of preparation and excellent results in their continuous improvement goals.

Since 2008, KME Ibertubos S.A. has focused on strengthening its export tradition by expanding its activities outside Europe and on implementing environmental and security management systems.
