COPPER WITH CHARISMA

The CARISSMA serves the research area "Vehicle Safety" of the Technical University Ingolstadt. In the research and test centre, safety systems are developed which simulate human senses, in order to recognize and avert dangers.

The HENN Architects (Munich), designed building is one hundred metres long and is connected to the urban fabric with its restrained building height along the historic fortress ring, between Glacis and a university building. The clearly structured copper façade made of TECU® Oxid_bond has already been given a patina and refers in material and colour to the neighbouring existing buildings and the surrounding nature.

The natural development of the patina on the building begins immediately with the dark oxide layer. Nature changes the surface through the influence of sun, rain, snow and wind, thus giving it an exciting life of its own - as is known from copper, again and again very individually and charismatically.
