KME Mansfeld GmbH: Change of name officially completed

MKM Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing GmbH is now called KME Mansfeld GmbH.
New name stands for proven quality and future orientation.

Hettstedt, 01 June 2019
- MKM Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing GmbH officially bears the new name KME Mansfeld GmbH with immediate effect. The name change completes the formal integration process of MKM GmbH into the KME Group. The acquisition of KME SE's 100% indirect interest in MKM Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing GmbH ("MKM") was completed end of February this year. With the new name KME Mansfeld GmbH, the Hettstedt plant is now one of three pillars under the umbrella of a strong group of companies in the copper industry. With the completed integration the Board of Directors of the KME Group will also act as managing directors for the operations of KME Mansfeld GmbH. The CEO of KME Mansfeld GmbH is Ulrich Becker.

Strong alliance for the Hettstedt location

"The merger of MKM and KME brings significant advantages not only for the Hettstedt site, but also for the market for semi-finished copper products and thus in particular for our customers. With focused plants in a strong production network, bundled research and development competence and a global presence in all markets, a stronger group of companies has emerged that play a leading role in international competition. Together we can exploit the positive synergies and offer secure and attractive jobs in the long term", explains Ulrich Becker, CEO of the new KME Mansfeld GmbH and Chairman of the Management Board of KME SE. Three copper plants in Osnabrück, Hettstedt and Fornaci di Barga are united under the umbrella of the KME Group. "All three sites will focus on specific product segments according to their technical strengths, which was one of the objectives of the takeover," Becker continued.

In the Osnabrück site - the headquarter of KME as well - the future focus will be on the production of rolled products from copper alloys and DHP qualities within the "Copper Semis" Division in addition to the well-established "Special Products" Division.

Brass rolled products and roofing strips for the Southern European markets are manufactured at the Fornaci di Barga site in Italy.

In addition to the production of wire, tube and rod products, Hettstedt will in focus on the rolled products for industrial applications made of pure copper grades.

The KME Group sees further potential in the copper market as a result of ongoing digitalisation, electrical mobility and the expansion of renewable energies. With the introduction of the new mobile standard 5G, considerable infrastructural expansion is necessary, which will have a positive influence on the demand for copper components.
