MOUNTAIN GUARD

The Rifugio al Sasso Nero is located at an altitude of 3,026 metres, making it the highest refuge in the Zillertal Alps. After being completely rebuilt, the mountain station clad in TECU® Classic offers both touring hikers and mountaineers solid accommodation with modern supply technology. Comfortable bunks, well-maintained showers, delicious kitchen food and a well-stocked bar are always available.

Real luxury is offered in the public room with its fantastic view of the Zillertal Alps, over the Hohe Tauern and the Rieserferner group to the Dolomite peaks of the Marmolata. Sustainable protection against wind and weather is provided by the copper façade cladding made of TECU® Classic, which is laid using the folding technique. The initially shiny copper-red metal skin may initially serve as a waymarker, but it will soon get a matt finish and blend in with the brown tones of the surroundings.

After installation on the building, TECU® Classic retains its typical bright red copper colouring for a period of time. Then the surface turns matt. Gradually, the material develops an oxide layer to protect it against the effects of weathering.

TECU® Classic is one of the 'TECU® Ecological Copper Alloys' and is therefore predestined for certified green buildings. All components of the alloy originate 100% from recycled material.
