Anyone can do simple - how about sustainably produced complex drawing profiles from KMCB?
What distinguishes bars from profiles?
Extruded semi-finished products made of copper and copper alloys are referred to as rods or profiles. The distinction between these terms depends on the type of geometric cross-section of the manufactured product. If the product deviates from standard shapes (rectangular, round, n-cornered), it is also referred to as a profile. Profiles are often also referred to as special profiles or drawing profiles, as their production preparation is often considerably more complex compared to geometrically simple ‘standard profiles’.
Technology in general
The individual production steps on the way to the finished profile are often much more elaborate and complex. Once the final design has been agreed with the customer, the semi-finished product is extruded. If the customer's tolerance or strength specifications necessitate a subsequent drawing process, the extruded profiles must be pointed in an intermediate step. The profiles are then quality-checked for compliance with the customer's specifications and then packaged for safe transport.
At KMCB, customer requirements take centre stage. Even challenging and difficult-to-realise cross-section geometries can be developed and manufactured according to customer requirements. The production department and our engineers from the R&D department work closely together to enable rapid qualification of the product using modern FEM simulations and many years of experience.

Open questions regarding the profile design can be discussed in technical discussions. Different production methods allow customised production of the requested geometries. Designing the profile shape to suit the application allows the profile to be produced cost-effectively.

Once the final profile design has been confirmed by the customer, the next step is to design the production tools, if they are not already available. Depending on the selected specifications, the necessary tools are designed by experienced specialists.

In addition to experience and defined design guidelines for tool design, our tool developers use the tool of process simulation to recognise potential problems before the tools are manufactured. Any weak points identified are then taken into account in the design of the mould, thus eliminating any weak points. This saves a lot of time and allows the profile to be delivered quickly.

As soon as the required tools have been designed, they are manufactured in-house by our highly specialised toolmakers based on many years of experience. Short distances allow short production times for the individual components.

Depending on the selected profile specifications, the products are manufactured on modern production facilities. We guarantee reproducible quality through process control and permanent monitoring of production quality.

The result is high-quality profiles that fulfil your requirements. And to ensure that they reach you undamaged, we manufacture product-specific shipping materials if required.
